We are partnering with organizations engaged in construction of nature trails around Lake Baikal. Children from orphanages undertake the construction of trails at Lake Baikal and live there in the summer. Additionally, they receive professional training and are engaged in climbing the mountains of Buryatia with instructors.

The primary purpose of the project is to involve the students and residents of children’s homes in active forms of education, tourism and the construction of the Great Baikal Trail. The adult mentoring and coaching aspects of the project are critical to the childrens success after they leave the orphanage.

Work on the construction of the trail began in 2003. In 2010, it was registered as BBT-Buryatia with a view to developing the movement for the construction and maintenance of trails in Buryatia. In 10 years, approximately 450 km of paths have been built.
